Jewish Community Center

Lilly and I went out today. Our adventure was Baby R Us and the Bank. We got a vibrating chair but the darn thing required a 5V battery. Baby R Us does not carry the battery..go figure. So we then went to Walmart. They did not carry the battery. So I returned the vibrating chair. We got a different one that took C batteries. Can I say a miracle chair. She goes to sleep or silence which is always better immediately. We also got a mobile on batteries. So now I do not have to wind up her bunny mobile 50x! Oh and this one has a remote so I can just sit on the couch and push a simple button and Kazamm it turns back on!!! Oh I am getting clever with these products.

Ok everyone wants to know what the heck Mike and I are doing about Lilly when I go back to work. And it maybe as soon as Monday that I return. Well we have a nanny for 3 months through an organization called MBF. Mommy's Best Friend. Yes it does cost you but right now it is our only choice. Then in June...Lilly will be attending the school of the Jewish Community Center. I am there tomorrow with her meeting the asst director and filling out the paperwork. There is a huge waiting list and we made the cut!!! It is the best daycare in San Antonio.

We are also on the Concordia Lutheran Church waiting list which is consider as good as the Jewish Community Center.

Oh and the biggest achievement: I was busy pumping and Lilly's Binky fell out of her mouth. She manged to use both her hands and put it back in her mouth. This at 5 months! Next thing she will be crawling to the fridge and feeding herself.
New pics tomorrow. Jill

What I have learned in a month

I can truly say I have a new respect for all mothers out there. Without child your life is just about you, a husband, and a shih tzu. With child your world has been changed forever. In the past month I have learned I will never sleep the hours I did until Lilly has left the nest...or is a teenager sleeping in because it is summer vacation. My schedule is her schedule. Everything is out the window!

I have been peed, pooped, and puked on and yes this has happened on more than 1 occasion.

Little things I have become clever with especially when it comes to putting Lilly to bed. Mikes back massager is a nice vibrator in crib ( yes i stand over until she is asleep), stuffing blankets in the swing so she is not in a curling position 24 hours a day. Dora the explorer has become a routine...apparently its her favorite.

Mommy and Me wears her OUT! So play dates are a must.

Finding a nanny/daycare is a nightmare and I doubt I will return to work March 1.

Having a husband who drops everything once he walks in the door from a work to see her is Awesome!

Watching tv and eating have become at odd hours: breakfast is usually at 5am for me.

Having GG down the hall to take Lilly so I can sleep is a true blessing!

And since Lilly has Colic moving to a preemie nipple, Gripe Water, and pushing her legs into her belly gets rid of gas. Who knew.

Shih Tzu learned running towards Lilly and sitting by her each time she cried gets Shih tzu extra attention! Wow smart doggy. She is being so much better now that she has learned this trick.

And last sleep when she sleeps is a must!! Which means I am off to bed.

1:45am

Well it is 1:45am. It was a fight this evening to get Lilly to sleep in her crib. She won and she is now in her swing.

Lilly is experiencing Colic right now. It takes anywhere from 1hr to 3 on Friday to soothe and calm her down. Vibration, the swing, walking her in stroller all seem to help.

Last night Lilly stayed over at GG's. It went well. Mom said it was hard for the 1:30 shift but the rest was a piece of cake. Tonight it is Twiggy's turn to stay over at her Grandmother's. Actually what happened is Twiggy was placed on my mom's bed and when I was leaving Twig had all 4's up snoring. I did not have the heart to wake her and bring her home to a screaming baby. So Twig has gotten 2 nights of rest!

Mike and I walked Lilly around the shops this afternoon. Every time she fussed in a store it was our cue she was over it! Borders lasted 20 minutes!

I actually went to the gym today! I am not going to tell my weight but I have a good 2-30 pounds to lose! So off to the gym on a daily basis now. Lilly and I have Mummy and Me Yoga on Tuesday. I will definitely bring my camera for that one.

OK I am off for some much needed sleep. Enjoy the new pics and new videos.

1 month old

Good Morning All,

Lilly is 1 month old today. We are celebrating by going to my OBGYN appointment. Maybe a little Starbucks on the way there. I am not sure if I mentioned this in the last blog, but we have moved into our Big Girl crib! She is doing well and sleeping well in the crib. Well tonight she is in her swing bc that is where Mike left her. I haeve been on binky duty since 1:40 (after feeding) and it is 2:40 now. I think she may finally be asleep.

I have a new video. Yea! I will post that in the am when I am awake and rested, that means by noon.

We finally started our process with the Nanny Agency. We are using an agency called MBF ( Mommy's Best Friend). The contract will be faxed in tomorrow and then we get to start interviewing the Nannies. I like this better than option #2 which was Daycare.

Lilly is asleep. I am off to bed. I will up date more tomorrow.

Happy President's Day

Hi Everyone,

I have been pretty quiet this week. I have been trying to just stay alive as my friend Kristen would say. New things for Lilly she has moved out of newborn clothes and diapers. Yes we are now in the 0-3 sizes and size 1 diapers. She is getting to be so big.

Next new thing we have figured out which cry means what. We have the real cry, which means I am hungry and I have a dirty diaper. The fake cry which is 1 huge yell so you pay attention to her. The Long fake cry which means Pick ME up NOW! And the Whiny Cry which stands for I Hate Tummy Time.

We are on a set schedule which starts at 12am, 3am, 6am, 8am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm. These are feedings and definite diaper changes. Now Lilly likes to stay up from 7pm-12am. So Mommy is up too. I have discovered many movies on Demand and the couch is my new bed. Twiggy rotates between bed and couch. She just got medicated. She tends not to like the crying so much.

Lilly Loves the TV. So far her favorite things to watch are Julie and Julia, the Olympic skaters, and Chuck.

The house was a complete disaster but we have managed to pick up last night. Date night does not exist anymore. We did manage to walk Twiggy and Lilly in both strollers to Borders yesterday. Twig got a lot of attention from the store clerks.

My next MD appt for me is Friday. This will also mark Lilly as being 1 month old!!!!

New Videos will be posted tomorrow.

Tummy Time

2 weeks 6 days

Well we are officially on a schedule. I feed her at 12, 3, and 6. And then every 2hrs during the day. Last night was unusual. We had hockey players who decided to have parties up to 3am. I think security was called several times (not by me for once). I am just happy Lilly can sleep through almost anything.

It is a rainy day here in San Antonio. The Franchella's have made homemade pasta sauce for dinner tonight. MMMM Very excited to eat. It's pretty much all I have been thinking about.

As for Lilly she is getting bigger each day. She does not look the same as when she was born. It's amazing how 3 weeks have gone by and her appearance has completely changed. Her personality is so much fun. She smiles a lot and is very vocal when she wants to be held. She does a cute grunt. When she is made her cry sounds like a race car. So much entertainment with this one.

The blog will now go weekly instead of daily. I will continue to post pics. If you want to see video of Lilly go to:

2 weeks and 3 days

Days are running together now. Breastfeeding, pumping, diaper changing, focusing on 2 babies (twig and Lil) is all I do these days.

Lilly just got a bath from Daddy. She was actually pretty silent during this bath time today. We have decided to run water continuously on her through the long shower handle to keep her warm. She seemed to enjoy this. It helped that she had food right before bath time too.
Exciting news for the day Lilly has completely lost her umbilical cord. She has an innie belly button. We (Lilly, Twig, and I) went for a walk on the trail today. Which meant I carried Twig and Lil was in the stroller. It was 65 and sunny so a nice day. Twig was pleased, she gave her Pig some attention when we got home. Tummy time was about 20 minutes. Lilly has been up pretty much the entire day and finally went to sleep 10 min ago (6pm).

Yesterday we went out to a restaurant. Lilly was quiet the entire time. Amazing! Her sleep was bed at 1:30and then she woke up at 5:30.

I really cannot remember anything else. Sad I know. I am just completely beat!

Day 15

Today has been good so far. Twiggy got a bath and seems a lot better today.
Lilly is having her usual talk with MiMi and PopPop while Mike is on the floor (shocker) saying he needs a nap (yawn).

It is raining Cats and Dogs here in San Antonio so not much we can do but stay inside. Twiggy and I may drive to HArbucks later for a little socializing.

Lilly always keeping me on my toes did 3 dumpies in 1 changing. I literally had to change her diaper 4 times. I think she is going for some kind of record.

Apparently the "Tummy Time" seems to be working. She can push her back up in her swing and she can roll to her side now. This little baby is a strong one. More later.

Day 14

Lilly had her 2nd MD appointment. These were her Stats:
At 2 weeks
Weight: 7lbs 10oz
LT: 21 1/2 inches
Head Circum: 34.7cm
She is very long for her age, weight is right on target, and head is small but normal.
She received her 1st shot the Hepatitis B. She was not thrilled at all about this.

At 1pm MiMi and PopPop arrived from Delaware. This is Mike's parents. MiMi talked to Lilly from 1-9 and apparently that conversation was so interesting Lilly slept last night!!! She was in bed by 10-2. Then 3:30-6:30. It was nice.

Twiggy got her 1st sedative last night after growling at her mommy in bed! I think it took the edge off.

I am posting a pic of Mike. He thinks he is Jack Bauer these days. I think he is in shock of having a baby at home.

Day 13

Hi everyone,

Well Last night was a little bit of drama. Lilly decided, as she does every night, that a good time to be awake is from 9pm-2am. I was in bed trying to calm Lilly down, when it happened. It was like a bad episode on TLC "When Shih Tzus Attack." Twiggy went after Mike. He was petting her and she was jealous of Lilly we think. So Mike took Lilly and put her in the crib. Needless to say Lilly was screaming bloody Murder and wanted to be in her swing. Twiggy was wimpering and I was crying. I think Mike was a little overtaken by all 3 girls crying. We got Twig calm, put Lilly in her swing, and I finally stopped crying. Twiggy will now be on anxiety medication starting today. :)

Lilly finally went to bed at 2 but then we had a feeding at 5, 9 and now 11:30. Awesome! Mommy is pooped!!!!

Mom and Dad (Jill's parents) just left. Dad is headed to the airport on his way back to Birmingham. He got to spend a full week with his granddaughter. He really enjoyed his time with her. Mom will be leaving tomorrow. She is setting up her new apartment, which is literally 4 doors down from us. We are 1317 and she is 1323. She will start her new 3 month job at the VA Feb8 or 15th. Mom has been fantastic in helping Mike and I with anything we have needed.

Tomorrow is the big day for Mimi and PopPop. They arrive from the airport (Oh yes they did FLY!!!) at 1pm. We will be sure to get lots of photos. They are here for 10 days and are very excited to see Lilly.

Mike returned to work today. He will be there today and tomorrow and then is taking the rest of the week off. We are also having our carpets cleaned today. Thank goodness. They are no so clean.

Ok enjoy the post. I am off to feed before WW3 breaks out.
